List Of Writers

PUGH, IEUAN M.

Ieuan was born and grew up in mid-Wales. He attended Ardwyn Grammar School in Aberystwyth and trained at both the Swansea and Cardiff Colleges of Art. Specialising in painting, he held several middle-management positions in art education before becoming Principal of Bournville College of Art in 1981. He was a founder of the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and became Principal of the Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1989. Ieuan took early retirement in 1996 and embarked on a series of exhibitions of his paintings and drawings, which culminated in his show in the Gregynog Gallery at the National Library of Wales in 2004.

Since then, Ieuan has focussed more on his writing. For Ieuan, words and especially names, nouns and numerals, are perceived as possessing sound, meaning and colour simultaneously. The discrete colour-sounds appear set against a background tapestry. Often the author writes pieces that conform to a colour scheme.
