Judge of 2008 Competition:

Linda Walters, has had both poetry and prose published in several anthologies and magazines. She has had work published on The Federation of Workers Writers and Community Publishers website.  She has recently read some of her own, and her late husband Ted’s poetry and prose out live on radio.  Linda is a keen supporter of all writing initiatives throughout the North West of England.  She met her husband Ted, when they both joined the same creative writing group on Merseyside in the 1990’s.  In 2002 both Linda and Ted became members of The University of Liverpool Creative Writing Society for Lifelong Learning:

“…Last years competition was an outstanding success, and I am very proud to have been associated with it. I am confident that 2008 will produce the same extraordinary standard of writing, and am very much looking forward to judging the entries…”

To Commemorate:

Ted Walters, was born in Liverpool on the 17th April 1951. He grew up in the City, attending the Liverpool Collegiate School as a boy. Ted was always a very gifted communicator, with an impeccable sense of comic timing. He would often write long and hilarious letters to his friends and family, who persuaded him to try and share his talent with a much wider audience. His stories were always well received, and Ted’s writing was eventually published and broadcast on radio. Ted was a committed member of The University of Liverpool Creative Writing Society For Lifelong Learning. His enthusiasm for writing was only rivalled by his passion for football, and a life long love-hate relationship with Liverpool Football Club. Ted died of cancer of 15th August 2006.

“...It was an honour and a privilege to have known Ted Walters, the Writer; and believe me when I speak from my own heart, as well as the heart of our writing group, and everyone else who had the pleasure to have known him. A competition in a persons name like this couldn’t have happened to a nicer man. I was one of those people lucky enough to have known him…”
