The Global Short Story Competition - Latest Competition
![]()
The monthly Global Short Story Competition is designed to appeal to writers everywhere, from the arid outback of Australia to the baking deserts of Africa, the towering skyscrapers of the United States to the humid cities of Asia, the bustling capitals of Europe to the steamy villages of South America.
What makes this competition different? Well, it is marketed in every country in the world and it happens every month.
Each month, a winning story is selected as well as a highly commended work to receive a cash prize. Winning stories will also be posted on the website. At the end of twelve months, each winning story will be considered for an annual cash prize.
So far this competition has attracted brilliant stories from Australia to France, Italy to South Korea, the US and Canada to Romania and Finland. Certys director and competition administrator, the crime novelist John Dean, said: “We have always known that there is a lot of talent out there, much of it yet to be discovered. We are helping to discover it.”
The competition is being supported by Darlington Arts Centre.
The closing day for each competition is the last day of the month. Writers wishing to find out more about the competition, or send entries, should visit www.globalshortstories.net. The first prize is £100.
Those who would rather post their entries, rather than go through the website entry system, can send them direct to 18 Milbank Court, Darlington, Co Durham DL3 9PF, or to the Certys office at Livingstone House, 29 High Northgate, Darlington, Co Durham, England DL1 1UQ, marked ’Global Short Story Competition’, and containing a £5 entry fee.
