Dannie Abse (President)

Poet, novelist and dramatist. Born in Cardiff, where he went to school. Had his first book published while still a medical student. 1973–74 was Writer-in-Residence, Princeton University, USA. Frequent contributor to BBC. President of the Poetry Society 1979-1992. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and of the Welsh Academy. Hon D. Litt. (Wales) 1989.
