Free Verse Publishing Opportunities for Black and Asian poets
www.freeverse.org.uk

Why have so few new Black and Asian poets been published in the UK in the past 10 years and why is poetry publishing so far behind the amazingly diverse world of fiction?

What can be done to address this situation and where does responsibility lie: with the publishing industry or the poets themselves?

Free Verse aims to answer these questions and offer a roadmap for the way forward for both poets and publishers, with useful, practical advice for what both sides can do to change the situation.

The final report from a year of research with poets and publishers contains plenty of useful practical tips. It was launched at the South Bank Centre on Tuesday 16th May, with a panel discussion featuring Bernardine Evaristo, Michael Schmidt (Carcanet), Neil Astley (Bloodaxe), Fiona Sampson and poet Moniza Alvi. You can download the whole report from the REPORT page on the website.
