Online Course, Writing with Intent
An innovative bilingual on–line course enables budding authors of all genres to improve or discuss their writing with the support of an experienced writer.
The course, developed by the School of Lifelong Learning at the University of Wales, Bangor, enables participants to have detailed feedback on his or her writing in a series of structured online communications while also earning credits towards a university degree.
The innovations are a strong ’one-to-one’ element via the online delivery, bringing creative writing tuition to those who live in remote areas, and a choice of Welsh or English as the language of creative writing and guidance. The course has different tutors for each language.
This course aims to provide support to those who want to improve their
writing, whether in poetry or in prose, fiction or non-fiction. By the end of the course, participants will have increased their awareness of different types of writing, have learnt new writing processes and methods and be more aware of the context of their own work in relation to other writing.
The course provides 20 credits at Level 1 (higher education). These can be counted towards a number of qualifications in the University including the BA Literature and Creative Writing and BA Combined Studies. The course costs £160, but there is a fee waiver scheme for those in receipt of certain benefits who do not have a first degree.
