BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF GROUP: Pavane are a Cardiff-based early music group, while Matthew Francis is a poet, living in Ceredigion. They have come together to do some shows based on Matthew Francis’s book Mandeville (Faber and Faber, 2008), a sequence of poems inspired by the medieval traveller Sir John Mandeville, which describe the world as seen by an English knight of the fourteenth century. The shows feature a mixture of Francis’s poetry with authentic medieval music from several countries. | |

| Pavane and Matthew Francis offer readings from Mandeville (Faber and Faber, 2008), accompanied by early music. The shows last around an hour and a quarter and consist of Matthew reading, the musicians playing and sometimes both together.
