CONSTANTINE, MARY-ANN
Enillodd Mary-Ann Constantine radd mewn Llên Saesneg yng Ngholeg Clare, Caer-grawnt (1988–91), ac yna bu’n astudio ar gyfer doethuriaeth ar Lên Gwerin Llydaw yn yr Adran Eingl Sacsoneg, Hen Norwyeg a Chelteg. Symudodd i Brifysgol Cymru Aberystwyth ym 1995, gan ddal nifer o ysgoloriaethau ymchwil yn yr Adran Gymraeg yno. Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn bu’n dysgu amrywiaeth o gyrsiau ym maes astudiaethau Cymraeg a Cheltaidd. Ymunodd â phrosiect Iolo Morganwg a’r Traddodiad Rhamantaidd yng Nghymru yno ym Mawrth 2002.
Prif ddiddordeb ymchwil Mary-Ann yw awduron y cyfnod Rhamantaidd a’u llenyddiaeth, a’r cysylltiadau rhwng ffurfiau llenyddol ‘uchel’ ac ‘isel’. Hyd yn hyn mae wedi canolbwyntio ar sut y trawsffurfiwyd cynnyrch y werin bobl, megis baledi llafar Llydaw, gan gasglwyr a golygyddion ar gyfer cynulleidfa newydd o ddarllenwyr Rhamantaidd. Mae’r un diddordeb mewn materion o ddilysrwydd a pherchnogaeth, yn ogystal â chwestiynau am genedlaetholdeb Rhamantaidd, yn ganolog i’w gwaith ar Iolo Morganwg. Yn ei chyfrol ddiweddaraf mae’n cymharu Iolo â rhai o awduron eraill y cyfnod a ystyrid yn ‘ffugwyr’, sef James Macpherson, Thomas Chatterton a’r Llydawr Hersart de La Villemarqué.
