What does Academi fund?

Programme Support

The Academi’s  Programme Support Scheme offers financial assistance to literature organisers involved with venue, festival or series programming. It is aimed at:

  • Venue Managers concerned to establish long-term regular literature slots in their schedule
  • Festival Organisers
  • Activists running literary tours
  • Other Literary Entrepreneurs concerned to promote literary events on a larger scale than are usually fundable under the terms of the Writers On Tour Scheme.
Applications are dealt with on merit and the sums involved are not absolutely prescribed. However the Academi would expect any application to be framed on the basis of the organiser/venue operator finding at least half the writer’s fee and expenses. Please view the Funding Guidelines on the menu to the left for more details.

Academi would like to see proposals for innovative, exciting programmes of literary activity for small festivals and for literary tours where writer by writer application for aid under the Writers On Tour scheme would be either cumbersome or inappropriate.

As with all Academi aid, applications can be for writers living and working in Wales as well as for writers visiting Wales. Applicants are not restricted to using only those writers included in our Writers of Wales lists. Academi cannot offer funding towards musicians, actors, dramatic presentations, events which are closed to the public or talks on overtly non-literary subjects.

Activity must take place within the geographic borders of Wales and applications without exception need to be made and agreed at least a month in advance. Standard Academi requirements for acknowledgement of support apply.

If you would like to discuss a proposal, float an idea or simply require more information please contact us by phone on 029 2047 2266,  post or by e-mail: post@academi.org
